Boy Racers... Bruuum Bruuum!

Just pondering as to what subject to write my blog on today, windows open, nice warm semi-summer breeze, a few birds and the noise of my neighbour cleaning his yellow Lupo listening to drum and bass. This is no ordinary Yellow Lupo, oh no, Sub, amp, tinted windows, alloys, body kit, dice the whole lot. It begs the question why do some motorists pay so much attention to their cars? The big chrome exhaust that sounds like a fart in a bottle, music blaring over taking and generally sitting on your back bumper to see if u want to race them.

I have to confess my first car was a little 1.1ltr Peugeot 206 did look quite mean for a girls car, but I grew out of it, so why do so many petrol heads not? With influences from films such as 'Italian Job' and 'The fast the furious' its no wonder there are so many teen driving deaths. Glorification of getting points and writing off cars is part of modern society. I don't think it will ever stop as youngsters strive to go faster and attempt more dangerous stunts.

I have put two pictures up so you can have a good laugh, one is my boyfriends old car and the other my old car thankfully we both opt for more mature cars now adays.

Response to Alex

I believe that the severity of the crimes rape and murder overlap, and in most cases rape is as bad as murder especially the rape of a minor. I do not however believe the rape of a prostitute is as severe unless it is a particularly violent attack as they have no moral relations with their sexual inhibitions.

Personally if I had to chose between being raped or murdered I would be murdered as I don't think I could live with being a rape victim.

I do not believe that the seriousness of this crime warrants it being in a module entitled 'being bad'! 'Being Evil' is more fitting.

PoRn!!!!

We all have sexual needs that need forfilling and who knows of a teenage lad who doesnt jerk his gurkin to porn? My boyfriend often tells me of sleepovers at friends houses in his young teenage years... a sleeping bag, porn film, tub of moisturiser and a box of tissues (he will kill me if he reads this) but lets face it all lads, men and even women do look at pornography. I have no problem with this at all.

I do however think that soft porn mags through to blue pornography films are somewhat responsible for the pressure on girls. Boys learning about sex from porn is wrong, for instance what real 12-16year old girl:

has boobs like that,
has a body like that,
can give oral sex like that,
wants it in every orifice,
and truly makes that amount of noise.

at that age you are just learning about your body you are not properly developed, but seeing that gives u false ideas of sex. it isn't 'love making' its sex (god i sound like my mom) it isn't real
its ok when lads get older and can differentiate between real and fake but watching it so young as it is widely available on the Internet etc, and the growing explicitness puts girls under pressure with boys having false expectations.

Legal Highs

With the strive for new thrills comes a flood of legal highs, NRG-1, 2, and 3, Naphyrone and MDAI to name a few. The cheapness and availability of such drugs makes them an easy alternative to ecstasy and cocaine, not to mention that the police can do nothing about it. when used sensibly there are no short term effects to health and no-one has died from taking them on there own, the risk to health comes when people mix stimulants such as the legal highs mentioned with depressants such as alcohol or ketamine. The trouble is such stimulants have to be sold as bath salts or plant foods despite them being useless as either, so they do not come with warnings or directions.

Politicians banning these legal highs only pushes it underground jeopardising the purity of the drug as with cocaine and ecstasy, pushing up the price and forcing the producers to to create newer drugs. I do believe cases of 14 year olds taking MCAT at school is wrong but should we really be punished for the mentality of others? surely the abuse of legal highs by minors shows the degenerating state of the population, so it is not the drug that is to blame it is the people abusing it. I do believe there should be an age limit put on such drugs but that adults should be trusted to make their own decisions about their own life. The ban on MCAT is not working all it has done is created new legal highs worse than their predecessor.

There are many people i know who take all sorts of drugs, they all still take Methadrone but a few have moved on to NRG-1 as a cheaper alternative, one person suffered a sudden rise in temperature, convulsions and preceded to try and claw his own face off. Mcat was quite safe banning it pushes people into trying more dangerous substances.

Education and making people frown at drug users is the key rather than pushing it under the carpet.

Prostitution...Exploiting Yourself or Exploiting Men?

What is a prostitute? Webster's dictionary defines,

Prostitution: the practice of engaging in relatively indiscriminate sexual activity, in general with individuals other than a spouse or friend, in exchange for immediate payment in money or OTHER valuables.

This begs the question are 'Gold Diggers' prostitutes? They use their sexuality to part rich men of gifts, holidays, etc. Is this any different to prostitution or escorting, just because it doesn't take place on the streets?

Stats

AGES:

Average age of entry: 14-16 yrs
Average mean age: 31
Average years in prostitution: 11
Percent younger than age 18 at entry: 42%
Threatened with a weapon: 78%
Physically assaulted: 82%
Raped more than five times: 73%
Current or past homelessness: 84%
As a child, was hit or beaten by a caregiver until injured or bruised: 49%
Upset by an attempt to make them do what had been seen in pornography: 32%
Pornography made of her in prostitution: 49%
Drug Addiction: 75%
Alcohol Addiction: 26%

The women who sell their body are of the most venerable part of society.
-They are often forced into it by a need of money to feed addictions.
-They often have a 'pimp' who takes a percentage of their earnings.
-They are often bought into the country for the purpose of prostitution often unknowingly or unwillingly.

The act of prostitution itself is often not the problem, it is the links to drugs, abuse, rape, people trafficking and gang violence.

'Men who pay for sex are indirectly supporting drug dealers and organised crime groups, and funding violence and abuse.' home office.

I personally believe all the above would be eradicated if prostitution was legalised and put in specific places where it could be monitored, The people using prostitutes could be logged so if a prostitute suffers abuse it can be dealt with, there would be support for prostitutes to get out of it and pimps taking their money would be stopped. If this did happen serial killers such as 'The Suffolk Strangler', 'The Yorkshire Ripper' and 'Jack the Ripper' may never have had access to the most venerable sector of society.

Would you leave prostitution: 87%
Need home or safe place: 78%
Need job training: 73%
Need peer support: 50%
Need legal assistance: 42%
Need alcohol and drug treatment: 67%
Self defense training: 49%

Bad Cinema

As a child we are all taught that there are two sides to every argument, 'Bad Cinema' is no exception. Films such as 'Kids' and 'Kidulthood' show drug taking, swearing, violence (often unnecessary) and sex, all undertaken by underage characters. On the one hand these films shock the audience highlighting teenage issues, although exaggerated, promoting awareness. yet the glorification of such fantastical lives is wrong.

In 'Kids' the whole point is that the cock sure arrogant main character 'Telly' is portrayed as a villain, his whole lifestyle is frowned upon rather than glorified unlike 'Kidulthood' and 'Adulthood' where the main character, 'Trevor' is glorified and dies a hero despite his violent ways. His and his friends whole lifestyle to me promotes gang culture and what many youngsters aspire to.

Showing violence, sex, and drug taking in film and media, I believe desensitises people. horror films such as 'Saw' make violence acceptable and almost every film released nowadays pushes boundaries, each film competing to shock audiences and ultimately sell, sell, sell.

Glamorising unmoral behaviour is wrong, tastefully undermining it is good.

Masturbation

Every one masturbates its a key feature of sexual maturity and sometimes it just has to be done, however masturbation is rarely depicted in Film or Television, on the rarities it is shown it is mainly used for comical effect. People rarely talk about masturbation as it is still seen as a taboo.

I believe there are two main reasons for this, the first being because the act of masturbation is preformed by one person, a single person sexually exciting themeselves is assosiated with failure as there doing it to themselves, not having sexual acts preformed on them by another person, this may indicate a lack of sexual success with the desired sex.

The second reason is that although attitudes towards masturbation are slowly changing, previous thoughts where that ejaculation is meant for reproduction not for pleasure, so we have that mentality programmed into us without even realising it.

Masturbation has always happened and will always continue to do so, even if you refuse to admit to it!

Smoking

There are many reasons why people may take up the pass time of smoking, at a young age it is normally linked to the desire to 'fit in' and look 'older.' Smoking seems to be becoming much less socially acceptable, in media the people who are now depicted smoking are stereotypically lower class failures contrary to the air of success surrounding those depicted smoking in the 1950's.

I personally believe the right to smoke is the personal choice of an individual. The persecution of a sector of society is unfair just because of their preference of leisure activity, I am not a smoker but I believe every one to their own. I do not however agree with there unhealthy habit affecting others, by this I mean smoking around children or places where non smokers have to be.

I disagree with the prejudice held against smokers by the NHS as they do contribute to taxes more than non smokers. Smoking is a personal choice it must be remembered that most smokers do not want to smoke so adequate help should be offered to them without them feeling like lepers. The segregation and persecution of smokers is wrong, instead of not allowing them to smoke in pubs and bars there should be smoking and non smoking pubs and bars with adequate extractor fans and therefore we would all have the freedom and choice to choose.
